With school out of session, many parents may be racking their brains trying to think of ways to keep the kids entertained this summer.

“It would be difficult to take them on a vacation every week, but you’d love to see the kids outside of the house doing something productive,” officials with the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History said. “Then we have just the thing for you.”

In June and July, the museum will offer children’s summer camps where kids can learn, explore, and create.

“Each camp has its own theme so you can cater to the interests of the child. We have four camps featured throughout the summer,” they said.

June 10 through June 14 is Imagineering Camp for ages 6 through 9. Camp will begin at 9 a.m. each day and finish at 1 p.m. “Let your child build and learn through play and discover new things about how the world works,” they said.

Appalachian Explorer Camp for ages 10 through 13 runs June 24 through June 28. Camp will begin at 1 p.m. each day and finish at 5 p.m. “Kids will be able to explore the community while learning about the great outdoors and natural history.”

Passport Camp for ages 10 through 13 will be July 8 through July 12, 1 to 5 p.m. each day. “Kids can learn about art, geography, navigation, cultures, and history from all over the world.”

Arts and Animals Camp for ages 6 through 9 is set for July 22 — July 26. Camp will begin at 9 a,m, each day and finish at 1 p.m. “Your child will learn about animals and wildlife through games, stories, and crafts.

Space is limited for all camps. Prices are $80/child for museum members and $100/child for non-members. Discounts are available for multiple children from each family.

Call the museum at 336-786-4478 or visit online at northcarolinamuseum.org to book a spot or ask questions.
