    • A Mount Airy woman is facing a long list of charges stemming from a weekend incident, including speeding to elude arrest and driving while impaired, according to city police reports.

Windy Renee Doss, 25, of 126 Summit Drive, was the subject of a traffic stop attempt early Saturday in which she allegedly failed to heed blue lights and sirens, prompting a vehicle pursuit.

Doss, operating a 2003 Honda Civic, subsequently was arrested on Bluemont Road, with police noting an odor of alcohol on her breath and suspecting her of driving while impaired. She refused testing, leading to a search warrant being obtained for a blood sample.

In addition to DWI and speeding to elude arrest, Doss is accused of careless and reckless driving, having an open container of alcohol in the passenger area, driving left of the center line, speeding and driving while license revoked.

She was held in the Surry County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond and was scheduled to be in District Court Monday.

    • Joey Keith Caudle, 33, listed as a homeless Mount Airy resident, was charged with impeding traffic by sitting/standing/lying after police responded to a suspicious-person call last Thursday afternoon on Hickory Street at West Lebanon Street.

Caudle was standing in the roadway and interfering with the traffic flow. Police records show he had consumed either drugs or alcohol. He was jailed under a $500 secured bond and slated for a court appearance on Monday of this week.

    • A Mayberry Mall store, Enmar Accessories, was victimized in a theft discovered Friday, which targeted metallic earrings and a leather bracelet.

    • Shamal Niquan Cox, 27, listed as homeless, was charged with injury to personal property and simple assault last Thursday. He is accused of assaulting West Pine Street resident Robert Kenneth Cooper with a metal sign and damaging personal property.

Cox was jailed under a $500 secured bond and is facing a July 15 appearance in Surry District Court.
