The Mount Airy/Surry County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded a $1,670 grant to the Reeves Community Center Foundation.

The grant will be used for a program to increase physical activity for teenagers through virtual reality technology. The Reeves Community Center Foundation provides financial support to the Mount Airy Parks and Recreation Department’s Reeves Community Center. The center has been serving Mount Airy and the surrounding community since 1951.

“This organization makes important investments in our community,” said Sam Wagoner Jr., advisory board president of the Mount Airy/Surry County Community Foundation. “So, we are happy to support it.”

Funds for 2024 grant came from Mount Airy/Surry County Community Foundation’s community grantmaking fund. Each year, Mount Airy/Surry County Community Foundation’s local volunteer advisory board uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.
