    • A Mount Airy man was arrested early Sunday for allegedly stealing alcohol from a downtown nightspot and then driving while impaired on a motorcycle, according to city police reports.

Samuel Taylor Pruitt, 32, of 498 Pine Ridge Road, was jailed without privilege of bond on charges including larceny, DWI, speeding, operating an unregistered vehicle, driving on a revoked license and failing to wear a DOT-approved helmet.

Police records indicate that Pruitt stole $108 worth of alcohol from Soho Bar and Grill on Franklin Street. He subsequently was stopped for speeding on a 2011 Harley-Davidson at a location in the 400 block of North South Street.

Testing revealed Pruitt to have a blood-alcohol level of 0.16%, twice the legal limit for operating a vehicle. His motorcycle was seized during the incident and Pruitt is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on July 15.

    • Obie Dean Faw, 57, of 971 Newsome St., has been charged with cyberstalking.

Police records show that Faw was served Sunday night with a criminal summons for the alleged crime in which Joseph Wayne Conner of North Main Street in Dobson is listed as the victim.

A District Court date of next Monday is set for the case, with bond information reported as “other.”

    • A incident involving a known suspect stealing beer from Food Lion on South Andy Griffith Parkway and fleeing from officers occurred Friday afternoon.

An 18-pack and a 12-pack of Heineken with a total value of nearly $40 were stolen, with no arrest having occurred at last report.

    • Laiken Nichole Lewis, 28, of 208 Long St., was charged with possession of cocaine, a felony, after a June 19 traffic stop on West Independence Boulevard near Frederick Street.

Lewis, who also is accused of possessing drug paraphernalia, was incarcerated without privilege of bond due to being on pre-trial release, police records state.

She is facing a July 29 appearance in District Court.
