Ardmore Baptist Church, 501 Miller St., Winston-Salem, will have services at 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Pastor Tyler Tankersley will continue a sermon series called Wisdom, The Book of Proverbs. This week’s sermon is “Wise Words” from Proverbs 17:27-18:9. Church office hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and closed on Friday through Aug. 9. The Ginders to visit Fairview Presbyterian Church
Bevin, Judy and Mathias Ginder are missionaries in Thailand. Fairview has supported them for many years, as some of you may do also. This summer they have come home to Carroll County to visit with family and friends. Fairview will host a covered-dish supper on Sunday, July 21 at 5:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Afterwards the Ginders will present a program enlightening us about their work in the mission field. This will be a very interesting presentation about how God has opened doors for them, and how the gospel is being spread throughout their mission field by many different means. If you know Bevin and Judy and Mathias and want to come and say hello or just if you just want to hear about their work, please plan to join us. Everyone is welcome. ‘It got a little airborne’: People ran in fear after woman drove car onto Grand Strand beach, report says
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Police arrested a Virginia woman in Myrtle Beach after she allegedly drove a car onto the beach on Tuesday. Lauren Hodge, 34, of Galax, Va., is charged with ordinance/vehicle prohibited to drive on beach/public marsh, first-offense driving without a license and reckless driving, records show.

“Back to School Bash” participants appeared to enjoy the “Splash Zone.” The bash is scheduled to return on August 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carroll County High School football field. Admission to the celebration is free. It will include public safety demos, school supplies, games and prizes, food trucks, a “Spray Zone,” inflatables, music and a DJ. Child abuse charges filed against East Bend man
An East Bend man has been charged following an investigation into reported sexual offenses with a child. The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the alleged offenses on Thursday, June 18. An investigation was conducted into the matter and evidence was obtained supporting the report, according to the Sheriff's Office. Subsequently, a warrant was issued for Hurley “Duane” Clonch, age 54, for five counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child. Clonch was arrested on July 12 and is being held at the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $125,000 secured bond. His next scheduled court appearance is July 31.
Drugs seized in home search, traffic stop
Officers seized methamphetamine during a home search and traffic stop, according to reports from the Galax Police Department. On July 8, Officer Ricardo Ortiz pulled over a vehicle for failing to make a complete stop at the intersection of Country Club Lane and Poplar Knob Road.
