WVU brings back talent on special teams, including one of the best in the nation at what he does
A majority of the preseason coverage and conversation at West Virginia has been about the offense and the defense, and understandably so. The Mountaineers are adamant their offensive talent is overlooked and underrated after reaching new productive heights last season and bring back so many of the contributors this season. The defense continues to blend in newcomers from the transfer portal while building depth at all three levels. There's been plenty to monitor as WVU prepared for the season-opening game at home on Aug. 31 against No. 8 Penn State.

Judge refuses to dismiss claims against city in lawsuit against former Charleston chief
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — A judge on Tuesday refused to dismiss claims against the city of Charleston in a case involving former police chief James “Tyke” Hunt. Judge Jennifer Bailey sided with Chelsea McCoy during a civil hearing in her complaint against the city, Hunt and former CPD Chief of Detectives Richie Basford. It alleges sexual misconduct and abuse of power from Hunt, who was a sergeant at the time. The city had attempted to have claims of intentional infliction of emotional distress, punitive damages and wrongful termination dismissed in the case.

Warner announces nearly $1 million in Election Security Grants approved by the WV State Election Commission
Charleston, W.Va. (Hinton News) – On Monday, West Virginia’s State Election Commission (SEC) approved the latest round of Help America Vote Act (HAVA) grant applications filed by counties to further bolster election security and purchase new equipment. The bipartisan SEC voted unanimously on Monday to distribute $970,000 of grant money between all 24 counties that applied this grant cycle. County recipients are Barbour, Berkeley, Braxton, Cabell, Doddridge, Fayette, Grant, Hampshire, Hancock, Hardy, Harrison, Jackson, Kanawha, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Monongalia, Putnam, Ritchie, Tucker, Upshur, Wayne, Wirt, and Wood.
