The CAMC Clinical Trials Center is enrolling patients in a clinical trial to evaluate a new treatment option for heart failure patients. The CORCINCH-HF Study is evaluating the safety and efficacy of the AccuCinch® Ventricular Restoration System, which is a new and innovative approach to treating heart failure that may help reduce symptoms, improve quality of life and potentially increase life expectancy.

West Virginia DNR floats idea of boat launch near Washington Works facility
PARKERSBURG — State officials are interested in putting a boat launch area down river from the Washington Works plant and wants the county’s support to do it. Officials with the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources appeared before the Wood County Commission on Monday to have a “preliminary conversation” about the idea. The officials were both from Charleston and Parkersburg who deal with fisheries and fish biology.

Weirton announces $44 million water treatment facility expansion
WEIRTON, W.Va. — The city of Weirton announced Tuesday a project that is set to expand the communities water treatment facility. The project will upgrade the Weirton water treatment plant for the first time since its initial construction in 1965. The project will total $44 million and will double the current capabilities of the facility from four million gallons per day to 8 million while improving the water quality in the process.

Dr. M. Raymond Alvarez, professor of healthcare management at Fairmont State University, has been reappointed by Gov. Jim Justice to the West Virginia Nursing Home Administrators Licensing Board. He was originally appointed in October of 2021 and his term will now extend until June 2029. This board plays a crucial role in ensuring that all nursing home administrators obtain their NHA (nursing home administrator) license to work in West Virginia nursing homes.
