OAKLAND CITY — Anthony W. Houchin, 67, of Oakland City died Saturday, July 6, 2024, at his home. He was born Feb. 21, 1957, in Oakland City, to Shirley and Bryce Houchin. He was a board member of The First Pentecostal Church and worked as a police officer and EMT for 20 years.

(OLNEY/NEWTON) An approaching cold front is bringing us rain and thunderstorms this morning as the frontal system moves out of Illinois. Then we’ll have a dry period for the rest of today through tonight, that is until an upper level disturbance brings us more rain chances late tonight, continuing through tomorrow morning. Then we’re back to sunshine by late Friday, continuing with dry and warm conditions on both Saturday and Sunday. Safe summer swimming goal of Morrison's Life Vest mission
PRINCETON — Princeton Aquatic Center received an "angel gift" Wednesday, with the donation of dozens of new life vests. Maria Morrison's mission is to see that children can enjoy a safe summer of swimming by gifting life vests to the area's community swimming pools.

Gordon, owner of Marmee’s Table, said while she has been baking for decades, she decided to switch her baked goods to all sourdough in 2020 after the discovery that one of her daughters is sensitive to gluten.
