Glenna J. Frankland, 99, peacefully passed on July 2, 2024, at Helia Health Care in Olney, Illinois. She was 6 days away from her 100th birthday. She was born on July 8, 1924, in Ellery, Illinois, to Bert and Matilda (Pettigrew) Michels. Glenna married Earl Frankland Jr. in 1943 in Olney, Illinois. They were blessed with three sons.

Cody Lane Booker, 27, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family and close friends. Cody came into this world on June 19, 1997 with his twin brother Cory. He was born to Don and Tina Booker. Cody was engaged to the love of his life, Lindsay Davis, and planned to be married on November 29, 2025. Cody became a wonderful father to Lindsay’s son, Elliot.
Kathy Lynn Ficklin
Kathy Lynn Ficklin, 68, of Petersburg, passed away June 25, 2024, at her home. She was born July 24, 1955 in Indianapolis, IN to Wiley and Dixie (Reuss) Marchbanks. Kathy graduated from Petersburg High School Class of 1973. She faithfully attended the Maple Grove Pentecostal Church. Kathy married her husband of 50 years, Ron Ficklin, on December 1, 1973. She worked for many years at Citizens State Bank and through the transition to German American Bank holding many positions during those years. Kathy was a woman of devout faith and loved her Lord Jesus Christ. One of her favorite things to do was spending time with family and those she loved. She never knew a stranger and will always be known for her outgoing personality and sense of humor.
Ramblings of my mind
Well I’m still trying to get used to turning things in to the editor on Fridays. We will get there because you just need to change your focus a bit. I consider myself blessed that I even have such a thing as focus. It does get difficult switching from what you are used to another way because we humans resist change and our minds and our bodies just normally fight it.

Elizabeth Burch Schwartz passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 94 years old. She was born July 27, 1929, in Petersburg, Ind., to Lloyd and Amy Burch. Zee, as she was known to family and friends, was a devoted wife and mother. She graduated from Purdue University and began her career as a home economics teacher before she prioritized family over career. Zee was very active in her Huntingburg community. She was a member of the Library Board, Study Club, Sunday School Teacher and pianist for the United Methodist Church’s early morning service. She was an amazing cook and loved to entertain. She also loved to travel and did so into her 80’s. She also loved music and attending concerts with her daughter Karen.

Bobbie Joan Rothrock, 91, of Cuzco, passed away at St. Charles Health Campus, in Jasper, surrounded by her family. She was born January 29, 1933, to Gerald and Marcella (Kammerer) Jones in Winslow, IN. She graduated from Winslow High School Class of 1951. She married her husband, Bob Franklin Rothrock on February 16, 1953.

SILVIS, Ill. — Adam Schenk birdied four times in a six-hole stretch, but it wasn't enough to make the cut at the low-scoring John Deere Classic on Friday. The Vincennes PGA player carded a even-par 71 Friday at TPC Deere Run to complete his two rounds at 2-under. The cut line for the low-65 golfers and ties landed at 5-under.

James Finley sentenced in domestic shooting case
KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - A Knox County judge ruled that James Finley will serve no prison time following a guilty plea. James Finley, 22, of Vincennes Indiana, pled guilty to domestic battery by means of a deadly weapon. This comes after Finley shot his step-father in the leg, following a dispute back in 2022. News Ten has previously covered these charges.
