OWENSVILLE — Shannon Faye Douglas, 60, of Owensville, died July 3, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. She was born in Evansville, April 21, 1964. She graduated from Princeton Community High School in 1982, and married Robin Douglas Aug. 7, 1982. She was a member of First Christian Church in Owensville. She retired from Toyota Manufacturing in Princeton in 2020 after 22 years of service.

HAUBTSTADT — The Daughters of Isabella Haubstadt Circle 151 meeting was June 17 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Haubstadt. Regent Kris Lutz opened the meeting. Three new members were installed: Terry Fuhs, Amy Clevy, and Brenda Greubel. Four more members are ready to be installed in August. Prayers were said, including prayers for the new members, and Pledge to the Flag was recited. The minutes were read by Joanie Luttrell. The treasurer’s report was given by Rhonda Reinbrecht.

In athletics, just like in life, there are good days and there are days that are not as good. After winning the June 28-29 Princeton Invitational with a 3-0 record and victories over Clay City Post 225, Oldham, Kentucky Post 39, and Madison Post 9, the Princeton Post 25 Senior American Legion Baseball team fell, 17-3, against Terre Haute Wayne Newton Post 346 in a five-inning, run-rule shortened game that was played on the campus of Terre Haute North High School.

OWENSVILLE — Sharon Knowles Deal,. She was born to James Oliver and Audrie (Rust) Knowles Nov. 28, 1948. She was a member Maumee General Baptist Church. She married Gerald “Jerry” Deal on July 18, 1981, and assisted his popular vegetable and fruit stand in Owensville, keeping the produce stand going a couple years after his death in 2017.

FORT BRANCH — David Resenbeck, 79, of Fort Branch, died Monday, July 1, 2024, at home. He was born June 15, 1945, in Winslow, to Burnes and Reqina (Smith) Resenbeck. He is survived by his wife, Sue Resenbeck; two sons, Brian and David Resenbeck; one daughter Cammie Baldwin; eight granddaughters and one grandson; and five great grandchildren.
Owensville council work towards providing water service to customer
OWENSVILLE – Owensville resident Terrence Burger has a water problem. Burger lives just outside of Owensville, with neighbors serviced by the water department in the town of Owensville, but Burger has had an issue getting his home connected to the town's service.

PRINCETON — No Democrat candidates were named by Wednesday's deadline for caucus candidates to fill vacancies on their party's ballot for local elections. The May primary election yielded only one contested partisan election at the county level this fall. Incumbent District 3 County Commissioner Warren Fleetwood of Fort Branch, winner of the Democratic primary, is challenged by Republican challenger Chuck Lewis of Haubstadt, who won the GOP primary this spring.

That’s the football career of Danny Tieken, an All-Pocket Conference defensive lineman on the 1972 Fort Branch High School team coached by the late-Jack Jewell, who went on to become the Gibson Southern Head Football Coach and Athletic Director and is in the Indiana Football Hall of Fame.
