Norman Lewis Bishop, 93, a proud resident of Olney, passed away on June 15 after a life richly lived in service of his country and devotion to his family. Norman was born June 14, 1931, in Raleigh to Clive and Elizabeth Bishop (deceased). He often recounted fond memories from his childhood on his family’s farm, particularly those with his horse, High-toned Kentucky Rex. He graduated from Eldorado Township High School and attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
Toyota recalling 145,000 SUVs due to airbag issues
INDIANA – Toyota is recalling about 145,000 SUVs due to an airbag issue. Toyota said the curtain shield airbag on the driver’s side of some 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX vehicles may not deploy as intended during crashes if the driver’s window is rolled down.

Toyota Recalls 145,000 SUVs Over Airbag Safety Concern
Toyota is recalling approximately 145,000 SUVs due to a potential issue with the driver’s side curtain shield airbag. The recall affects certain 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX models. According to Toyota, the airbag may not deploy properly in specific crash scenarios if the driver’s window is down. This safety concern has prompted the recall of vehicles manufactured at Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Princeton. The automaker is actively working on a solution to address the issue. Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified about the recall and the necessary repairs once a remedy is available.
Matthew Lindsey Named New Rotary President
Matthew Lindsey has been installed as the Vincennes Rotary Club president for the coming year. His new term will start July first. Lindsey serves has customer service manager for Vincennes Water Utilities. He replaces Chelsea Harrington as the group’s president for the 2024-25 term. Among the group’s achievements in the last year was giving 27-thousand dollars in scholarships to deserving students, and raising 25-thousand dollars toward the Vincennes YMCA’s space renovation project.

City: Washington Avenue On Track for On-Time Completion
Work continues on Washington Avenue, as crews are finishing up with drainage work ahead of a planned resurfacing of the road itself. The work so far has focused on drainage improvement from the Burnett Heights east of Washington Avenue. Before the project, rain from that elevated area was draining down the hill into Gregg Park. However, Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum says the drainage improvement will stop that from happening. Mayor Yochum also assures everyone despite some lack of above-ground work, right now, the project is on schedule.
