OAKLAND CITY — William Joseph “Bill” Woods, 91, of Oakland City, passed away Sunday June 16, 2024 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. He was born May 15, 1933 to Agnes (Christian) Woods and William E. Woods. They preceded him in death along with sisters, Mary Catherine Pflug and Norma Jean May.

OWI arrests made over weekend
HAUBSTADT — A Fort Branch man was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated at 2:12 a.m. Saturday following a traffic stop in Haubstadt. Sheriff Bruce Vanoven reported a black 2000 Jeep Cherokee was stopped after Deputy Wyatt Hunt saw the driver disregard a stop sign at Elm Street and Ind. 68 and again at Main and Haub Streets in Haubstadt.
VINCENNES BOARD OF WORKS
The Vincennes Board of Works has taken steps toward the completion of the Washington Street project. That approved a contract with the firm of Schneider Geometrics for just over $15,600 for right of way engineering, surfacing and staking work on Phase II. That phase is expected to begin in 2027 and cover the area from Emison Avenue to St Clair Street. The approval was given Monday during the board’s regular session at City Hall.
Three arrested in Petersburg after police receive a tip
Jerald Charles, 37, along with his wife, Nellie Charles, 42, and their roommate Jeremy Leighty, 47, all of Petersburg, were arrested and charged with multiple drug charges and Maintaining a Common Nuisance after Petersburg Police acted on a tip they received about the residence located at 1030 E. Play got underway in the 6 team Little League 12U District 1 Tournament Sunday at Lawrenceville City Park Field. Two opening round games were played. Robinson nipped Olney 3-2 in 10 innings in the first game and it was Salem blasting Wabash Co 15-0 in game two. Play continues Monday night with host Lawrenceville meeting Robinson in game one at 5:30 p.m. and Salem facing Mt Carmel in game two around 7:45 p.m. Winners play again Wednesday.
