BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Friday’s temperatures climbed back to the 90s in the lowlands, setting the precedent for the weekend and beginning of next week. Lowlands will continue to see temps maxing out in the low 90s over the weekend, and potentially maxing out as high as the mid-90s by Monday and Tuesday. Friday’s humidity was low, but humidity will be climbing a bit more each day during this heat wave, making it possible for Monday and Tuesday to exceed heat index values of 100 degrees. Be sure to take this heat seriously! There have been at least 28 heat-related fatalities in the United States this summer so far, and we don’t want to see that number climb. (WV News) — Best Virginia passed the first test on the road to a $1 million prize at The Basketball Tournament (TBT) later this month with flying colors, defeating a team of Mountain East Conference All-Stars in an exhibition on Friday in front of a packed house at Buckhannon-Upshur High School, 71-59. Five of the seven Best Virginia players in attendance scored in double-figures with Esa Ahmad netting a team-high 19 points while Jonathan Holton finished with 12 and the trio of Xavier Bledsoe, Wesley Harris and Teyvon Meyers all chimed in with 10 apiece to spearhead a balanced offensive attack.
