BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Conditions remain hot and humid across NCWV heading into the start of the week as highs are expected to remain at or above 90 degrees for Monday and Tuesday. Across the lowlands, highs will be closer to the mid-90s with heat index numbers closer to 100 degrees throughout the afternoon. Chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible from this evening into tomorrow morning and also most of the day on Tuesday leading up to a cold front crossing on Wednesday. BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Fairmont Senior High School and WVU graduates Darius and Dante Stills hosted the 1st Annual Stills Brothers Big Man Camp at Wayne Jamison Field in Bridgeport. Two separate camps were held for youths ages 10-13 and 14-18. WVU offensive linemen Ja’Quay Hubbard and Brandon Yates were camp coaches for the event. James "Jim" Howard Straight
Straight, James James "Jim" Howard Straight, 76 of Grafton, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Grafton City Hospital. He was born in Fairmont on December 24, 1947, son of the late James O. and Pearl Loraine McIntire Straight. Jim is survived by his wife, Charlene Williams Straight, they were married September 6, 1999 spending more than twenty-four wonderful years together. Jim was a graduate of Monongah High School. He worked many years for Ground Breakers as a heavy equipment operator. Jim had a passion for old cars and loved attending car shows to show off his 1962 Ford Galaxy while talking with the other car enthusiast. He was a member of the Taylor County Boat Club and was an avid WVU sports fan. Jim loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Jim is survived by one son, William "Bill" Howard Straight (Natalie); two grandchildren, Billy Straight and Sammy Straight. In addition to his parents Jim is preceded in death by his sister, Robin Straight. Jim's request of cremation will be honored. A Celebration of Life service to held at a later date. Ohio man arrested for attempting to rob Fairmont store
FAIRMONT, W.Va (WDTV) - An Ohio man was arrested after attempting to rob a store in Fairmont this week. Kenneth Lancaster, 23, of Toronto, Ohio, is accused of entering a store on Adams Street with a Dollar General bag on his head and attempting to rob it, according to the Fairmont Police Department.
