Scout Vester opens this weekend in old M-Brew spot in Ferndale
FERNDALE, Mich. (FOX 2) - After four years of sitting empty, a new business similar to Ferndale's M-Brew is set to open in the space this weekend. For the first weekend, Scout Vester will have only drinks, with plans to reveal the food menu and start serving eats next week.
Dearborn to close stretch of road on weekends to improve pedestrian safety
(CBS DETROIT) - New pedestrian safety measures are being implemented in west Dearborn, including closing vehicle access to a roadway on weekends throughout the summer. The Dearborn City Council approved the new program on Tuesday. Starting Friday, the city will close a portion of West Village Drive between Mason and Monroe streets using modular vehicle barriers. The barriers are funded through the West Dearborn Development Authority, according to a release from the city. A waft of what smells like fresh cut grass and burnt oil hangs in the air of Detroit's East Canfield neighborhood. The eerie smell comes from the nearby Stellantis Mack Assembly Plant, which has received repeated air quality violations for paint and solvent odors over the last several years. In March, Stellantis agreed to pay a $84,420 fine from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) for air quality violations for one of its plants in the same neighborhood. This neighborhood has one of the highest rates of asthma hospitalization of children under 18.
