QB Adrian Martinez: From MVP of UFL to Jets training camp
Aaron Rodgers has more company in the quarterback room as the New York Jets signed former UFL MVP quarterback Adrian Martinez to the training camp roster Saturday. Martinez, 24, earned those MVP honors by throwing for 1,749 yards and 15 touchdowns while rushing for a league-leading 528 yards last season for the Birmingham Stallions. He was also named the game's MVP when the Stallions dominated the San Antonio Brahmas 25-0 to win the UFL Championship in June. The Fresno, Calif., native played four years at Nebraska before transferring to Kansas State in 2022 for his final year of eligibility. After going undrafted in 2023, Martinez had a brief stint with the Detroit Lions before being waived during final roster cuts last summer. Martinez will be competing with not only Rodgers, but also Tyrod Taylor, Jordan Travis and Andrew Peasley for quarterback reps with the Jets. --Field Level Media

The Detroit Lions may already have a quarterback problem
At the outset of the 2023 offseason, Lions general manager Brad Holmes professed how a level of emphasis would be placed on the No. 2 quarterback spot behind Jared Goff. "Going into this past year, yeah, we went down to the umpteenth hour trying to figure out what we were gonna do at number two. “I’ve let it be known internally that we’re not gonna be in that position again heading into this year, so we have to get that settled. I thought Nate Sudfeld did a nice job with us, so we’ll figure that out. But, I am gonna make it a point of emphasis and make sure that, being that we’re finally in a position to address that quarterback room behind Jared, we have been in that position in the past. But, we’re gonna make that a point of emphasis this year.”"

Detroit Tigers Tarik Skubal In Great Company
Detroit Tigers Starting Pitcher Tarik Skubal’s first 20 starts this season have him on a list with three of the best pitchers in franchise history. His 2.34 ERA is the fourth-best in the illustrious history of the Tigers franchise. He is trailing only Justin Verlander(2011), Mark Fidrych(1975), and David Price(2015) for the best ERA through their first 20 starts of a season in team history. Verlander would go on to win the Cy Young Award in 2015 while both Fidrych and Price would finish second in Cy Young voting in the seasons where they made this list. This history bodes well for Skubal who is the odds-on favorite to win the 2024 American League Cy Young Award.
