Michigan man sentenced in rape, beating of woman after breakup
PONTIAC, MI – A Michigan man has been sentenced to 26 to 50 years in prison for the rape and beating of his ex-girlfriend, authorities announced. Adam Richards Williams, 35, of Lake Orion, was sentenced Monday by Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Kwamé Rowe, who exceeded sentencing guidelines due to the “egregious, despicable crimes” that Williams is convicted of, according to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.

The city of Detroit is welcoming a significant boost in its affordable housing arsenal, with the groundbreaking of the Preserve on Ash I in North Corktown. The project is part of a forthcoming injection of nearly 600 new and preserved units of affordable housing in the Greater Corktown area. This ambitious effort is being backed by a $30 million Choice Neighborhoods grant from the US Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) that was awarded to the city back in 2021. Dearborn to close stretch of road on weekends to improve pedestrian safety
(CBS DETROIT) - New pedestrian safety measures are being implemented in west Dearborn, including closing vehicle access to a roadway on weekends throughout the summer. The Dearborn City Council approved the new program on Tuesday. Starting Friday, the city will close a portion of West Village Drive between Mason and Monroe streets using modular vehicle barriers. The barriers are funded through the West Dearborn Development Authority, according to a release from the city.
