Woman trespassed from Publix for sitting out front and refusing to leave
A New Port Richey woman was arrested for trespassing when she sat in front of Publix and refused to leave despite being asked by police. An officer responded to Publix, located at 10601 U.S. Hwy. 441 in Leesburg, regarding a suspicious person around 10:37 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Dispatch advised that the caller, an employee of the business, stated 62-year-old Krystal Lynn Barnett was sitting in front of the business refusing to leave.

District Office offers detailed plan for two-week tunnel closure in The Villages
Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, July 22, through approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 Tunnel M-18 will undergo maintenance. Tunnel M-18 is located north of the intersection of Morse Boulevard and Meggison Road. The maintenance will require periodic closures to the tunnel, multi-modal transportation paths, and single-lane closures on Morse Boulevard for the two-week duration of this project.
