15-year-old suffers medical emergency after receiving alcohol from Moore County man: Deputies
EAGLE SPRINGS, N.C. (WNCN) — A Moore County man was taken into custody after a 15-year-old suffered a medical emergency from being provided alcohol. Javan Luke Overton, 37, of Eagle Springs was arrested on July 1. He is charged with felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, aiding underage purchase of alcohol, aiding underage consumption of alcohol, and giving alcohol to a person under 21 years of age, according to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

Uwharrie Regulators All-Stars go deep into tournament
June 17 the Uwharrie Regulators All-Stars played in Richfield. They had made it to the third round of the All-Stars Tournament after defeating both South and West Stanly. Here they would fall short to Moore American, but coaches and staff say that they were proud of their efforts and of the season that took them that far. Ultimately Moore National would go on to win the tournament, but next season always seems to be right around the corner.
License Plate Agency to reopen in Robbins
The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles will reopen a license plate agency (LPA) on July 10 in Robbins. The office closed on Jan. 31 when the previous operator’s contract ended. The agency will be operated by Daniel Frazier and will be at the same location as the previous agency at 141 S. Middleton St. in Robbins. The LPA will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, except on state holidays.

One person arrested after reports of shots fired at Wingate University baseball field, officers say
The Wingate Police Department arrested a man in connection to shots fired at Wingate University's baseball field during a game. On June 28, officers with Wingate police and Union County Sheriff's Office were called to the Wingate University campus after reports of gunfire near the baseball field. Officers and other first responders found a man suffering a gunshot wound running around the baseball field during a baseball game.
