Section of Orange and Water streets closed near Lancaster Central Market for low-hanging wires
Police announced road closures two blocks from the Lancaster Central Market as they fix a traffic hazard Tuesday afternoon. Lancaster city police said at 1:45 p.m. the 200 block of West Orange and the 100 block of North Water streets are closed to all vehicles as low hanging wires made the roads inaccessible. Photos posted from the department show a tractor trailer stuck in wires coming out of North Water Street.

Police release details in fatal I-81 crash Sunday in Silver Spring Township
State Police at Carlisle released further details about a triple-fatal crash on Interstate 81 in Silver Spring Township Sunday afternoon. Police said the driver of a tractor-trailer, Melake Zeresenay, 29, of Seattle, Washington, was traveling in the left lane of I-81 north when he attempted to merge into the right lane at 1:53 p.m. Sunday. However, police said Zeresenay realized there was a car in the right lane and attempted to get back into the left lane but lost control of the tractor-trailer.

Bern Township police have charged a New Jersey man with perpetrating a lottery scam that cost a 68-year-old township woman nearly $1,000. The victim was tricked by Eugene C. Luke, 63, into sending a cashier’s check for $950 to his home in Wayne, N.J., in mid-December, investigators said. She thought she was prepaying taxes on a purported $450,000 lottery prize after receiving a phone call from Luke informing her that she had won the lottery, investigators said.

Three teens charged following shots-fired incident Saturday
Three teens were arrested and face felony charges after guns were fired during a fight Saturday in Lower Chanceford Township. Clyde L. Heller, Jr. age 87, formerly of Paradise, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024 at Newport Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Sarah L. Fisher Heller for 35 years before her passing on August 30, 2021. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Clyde L. and Kathryn Landis Herr.
