Condemned: Future uncertain for East Bank Middle School's Calvert Field
In a decision that has stirred strong emotions in the community, Kanawha County Schools has condemned Calvert Field at East Bank Middle School due to severe disrepair. The main bleachers and press box are structurally unsafe and cannot be used, school district officials said. This means that the school will not be able to host its three home football games this year. Instead, the games will be held at Riverside High School.

OAK HILL, W.Va. (Hinton News) – Color bursts forth in dynamic fashion on August 3 when, for the second year, ACE Adventure Resort will host the Color Dash for Hope. Investigation into mine accident in southern W.Va.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — State mine safety investigators are looking into a serious accident on a southern West Virginnia surface mine which left a worker hospitalized. According to the State Office of Miner’s Health, Safety, and Training the mishap occurred last Friday at the Wyco Surface mine near the Raleigh-Wyoming County border. Along with the state, investigators from the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration are handling the probe.
