Rockingham Family Physicians joins Augusta Health
HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Rockingham Family Physicians in Harrisonburg will join Augusta Health. This new addition marks Augusta Health’s second location in Harrisonburg as the practice will join Augusta Medical Group on September 1. According to a news release from Augusta Health, it reflects ongoing efforts to expand access to high-quality healthcare services while maintaining the standard of care and service that patients expect.
Teens Come To Library To Make Cookies
Teens came to the library to make monsters out of candy. And then they ate the candy. The “Monster Cookie” event at the Central branch of the Massanutten Regional Library was a way for tweens and teens to get together. The first step was to apply frosting to the cookie as “glue.” Then they applied candies to the cookies, and the result was a monster face. The Secret Lair celebrates a decade of business
HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – This year marks ten years since The Secret Lair Comics opened their doors back in 2014. To mark the occasion, the comic store will host a 10-year anniversary event for all customers to enjoy this Saturday, July 20. VAB sponsors team of JMU student journalists at the major parties’ summer conventions
HARRISONBURG, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Virginia Association of Broadcasters is sponsoring a team of student journalists from James Madison University at this summer’s political conventions. A team of six from JMU’s School of Media Arts and Design has been in Milwaukee this week covering the Republican National Convention. They’re posting their audio, video and print stories on a dedicated website, open first to VAB station members for 12 hours, then everyone else after that time.

Afton Inn owner addresses violations, safety concerns
A Front Royal official said on Thursday that the developer of the former Afton Inn recently corrected zoning violations and work continues to address building safety concerns. Daniel S. Wells, Front Royal property maintenance official and code enforcement officer, sent a warning letter dated June 27 to property owner Alan Omar of 2 East Main LLC outlining zoning violations recorded during a recent inspection of the property at the corner of Royal Avenue and Main Street.

Sheriff’s Office arrests suspect in online sting
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged an Edinburg man on Tuesday in an undercover operation targeting online solicitation of juveniles. The agency charged Daryl Eugene Mumaw Jr., 44, of Edinburg, with two counts of use of communications systems to facilitate certain offenses involving children and one count of taking indecent liberties with a juvenile, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. Mumaw is scheduled to appear in Warren County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on Thursday.

Roadwork Planned Throughout The County
The Virginia Department of Transportation has roadwork slated throughout Rockingham County, to Interstate 81 and primary and secondary roads.
