In honor of Christmas in July Shippensburg University proudly commemorates Officers Amel Hajdarevic and Jason Brady for their heroic action on December 25, 2023. What started as a routine patrol for Silver Spring Township officers quickly became a life-saving mission. Officers Hajdarevic and Brady responded to an urgent call regarding a man in cardiac arrest. They quickly arrived on the scene, and thanks to their prompt response and intensive training, they saved a life. Officer Jason Brady, married to Brandy Brady, the assistant director of admission at Ship, met his wife while they were both at the university. This act of bravery shows the dedication and expertise of Officers Hajdarevic and Brady, who exemplify the importance of rigorous training and preparedness within the police force.

THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING: Hot & Humid, Stray Storms. Hi 99. TONIGHT: Partly Cloudy, Warm & Humid. Lo 74. WEDNESDAY: Scattered PM T-Storms. Hi 96. Yesterday’s official high of 99° tied the old record set in 1997! With nearly identical conditions ahead today it will be yet another day where temperatures will climb to near 100°. Some backyards did get some brief rain in the form of stray showers and storms, but for the most part, many locations remained dry. Today will offer a similar chance for rain – in other words, a bleak one. A few storms could pop up this afternoon, but the majority of the area will stay rain-free. Expect warm and muggy conditions tonight with lows in the mid-70s.
Excessive heat warning with thunderstorms before relief arrives this week
The hottest weather moves in today. Highs will be in the middle to upper 90s with the heat index between 105 and 110 degrees. This is dangerous heat! The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning due to the very high heat index that's expected. Have a means to keep cool and make sure you're hydrated with water if you're going to be outside for an extended period of time. Both today and tomorrow will also offer up the chance for some isolated thunderstorms.
