July 17, 2024 – Authorities have arrested a man they say is responsible for an armed robbery and fatal shooting that took place in Mt. Juliet last month.

Near midnight on Saturday morning, June 29, 2024, Wilson County deputies and officers with the Mt. Juliet Police Department responded to a reported robbery at Cedar Creek Marina and Restaurant, located at 9120 Saundersville Road. Shortly after closing, armed suspects ambushed staff in the restaurant, assaulting two staff members and forcing them to open the cash safe. The injured staff members were treated and released by medics on the scene.

Following the robbery, the suspects fled to the parking lot, where a 27-year-old male was found unresponsive with gunshot injuries. Responding officers attempted life-saving care until the arrival of paramedics. Despite these efforts, the 27-year-old victim (identified as Bailey Gardner of Kansas) passed away as a result from his injuries. Gardner did not have any associations with the suspects involved as he was the victim of a cold blooded murder.

Both agencies quickly determined that the shooting occurred following the armed robbery and during the suspects’ flight from the scene. Detectives from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division have been working closely with Mt. Juliet Police Department detectives to identify those responsible for this senseless crime.

An arrest has been made in connection with this incident. 40-year-old Adrian A. McLean was apprehended Wednesday morning in Nashville with the assistance of Metro Nashville S.W.A.T. and Homicide Unit, following a joint investigation by the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office and the Mt. Juliet Police Department.

McLean is being charged with one count of first degree murder and three counts of aggravated robbery. Investigators are currently working with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement as McLean’s temporary citizenship had expired.
