In-N-Out Burger is looking into opening a restaurant in Mt. Juliet, according to Mayor James Maness.

The West Coast-based brand is considering an area on the northeast side of Golden Bear Gateway and Interstate 40, Maness said.

In-N-Out will need Mt. Juliet planning commission approval, including a waiver for design standards, Maness said.

Costco recently opened a membership store on the other side of Golden Bear Gateway, across from the area In-N-Out is exploring, which Maness believes provides "an anchor tenant there to generate that interest we wanted for so long," he said.

Texas Roadhouse has also signed a lease and taken steps to build a new restaurant just off the Golden Bear Gateway and I-40 corridor, officials have said.

"Hopefully it will work out," Maness said of In-N-Out's interest.

In-N-Out also has initial site plan approval to build on 3.45 acres on the corner of South Hartmann Drive and Franklin Road.

Ace Hardware store also announced for Mt. Juliet

The city has also announced that plans are moving forward to open a new Elder's Ace Hardware store on Lebanon Road across from Park Glen Drive.

Mt. Juliet had an ACE Hardware store on North Mt. Juliet Road that was closed several years ago.
