Mount Laurel's Student-Athletes Excelled In Collegiate Outdoor Sports This Season

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — The outdoor portion of the collegiate athletic season is now complete and it’s a good time to take a glance at local student-athlete graduates from Lenape High School who made a name for themselves in sports right here in New Jersey and beyond.
Sidney Whetstone was a junior competitor in jumps and sprinting events for the Rowan University (Glassboro, NJ) women’s outdoor track and field program. Whetstone was a part of the 4 by 100 relay team that earned Second Team All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) honors.
The Profs placed second in the team scoring at the NJAC Championships hosted by Stockton University in Galloway.
Luke Cole was a junior midfielder for the Monmouth University (West Long Branch, NJ) men’s lacrosse team this past season. Cole played in all 13 games and started in six of them for Monmouth. He had 13 goals and six assists this year.
The Hawks posted five overall victories with a record of 4-3 on their home field. In the Coastal Athletic Association, they collected two wins. Cole is listed as intending to major in Finance and Real Estate.
Ben Blum and Liam Humphrey were on the roster for the Stockton University (Galloway, NJ) men’s lacrosse team this spring.
Blum, a freshman goal keeper, competed in 12 games and started in six of them for Stockton. He had 81 saves on the season.
Humphrey, a freshman who played attack, competed in five games for Stockton.
The Ospreys had an overall record of 11-8 with a mark of 9-2 at home. In the Coastal Lacrosse Conference (CLC) they were 3-2. Stockton competed in the CLC Tournament where they Montclair State University and lost to Christopher Newport University.
Yasmin Harris was a sophomore midfielder for the Rowan University women’s lacrosse program this spring. Harris competed in 14 games and posted four goals and four assists for Rowan.
The Profs had eight overall victories with half of those wins occurring on their home field. In the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) they were 4-1. Rowan advanced to the NJAC Tournament where they topped Stockton University in the semifinal round before losing a close game to The College of New Jersey in the championship round. Harris is listed as an International Studies and Political Science major.
Paige Shaw was on the roster as freshman goal keeper for the Drew University (Madison, NJ) women’s lacrosse squad this year. Shaw competed in all 18 games and started in 17 of them for Drew. She had a team leading 161 saves this past season.
The Rangers tallied an overall record of 10-8 with a mark of 4-4 at home. In the Landmark Conference they went 6-3. Drew advanced to the Landmark Conference Championships where they were defeated by Juniata College in a game held in Madison. Shaw is listed as a Biology major.
Danny Snyder was a freshman pitcher for the Stockton University baseball program this year. Snyder appeared in eight games and struck out 12 batters. He had a 3.60 earned run average.
The Ospreys posted an overall record of 22-18 with a mark of 7-6 on their home field. In the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) they were 12-6. Stockton advanced to the NJAC Tournament where they lost to The College of New Jersey and Kean University.
