MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — The Mount Laurel Police Department (MLPD) is highlighting recent investigations and arrests that have taken place in the Township through a new community reporting system.

The MLPD rolled out a new feature to its website earlier this year in which residents can sign up to receive a weekly e-newsletter delivered to their inboxes that summarizes the number of investigation reports, calls for service motor vehicle collisions and overdoses that have taken place throughout the week. The newsletter also highlights specific investigations and arrest incidents.

The latest report covers July 19 through July 23. During that time period, the MLPD conducted 70 investigation reports, had 1,047 calls for service, dealt with 17 motor vehicle collisions and made 19 arrests. There were two overdoses reported in that time frame.

The MLPD highlighted several arrests and investigations, including:

    • A Mount Laurel police officer stopped a pedestrian on Route 73 on July 19 at 3:09AM for violating pedestrian laws. The individual gave the officer a false date of birth to avoid being arrested for active warrants, however, when their identity was learned, they were arrested for the active warrants and hindering. A search found controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia with suspected controlled dangerous substance residue. The suspect was subsequently also charged with controlled dangerous substances offenses on a summons and was lodged at the Burlington County Jail for the active warrants.
    • On July 19 at 8:53AM, an officer stopped a pedestrian on Crawford Place for violating pedestrian laws and found that the individual had an active National Crime Information Center warrant, and was then arrested. A search found two glass smoking pipes with suspected cocaine residue. The suspect was charged with controlled dangerous substance offenses on a warrant and was lodged at the County Jail on the active National Crime Information Center warrant.
    • Mount Laurel police officers responded to a business on the 1100 block of Route 73 on July 19 at 12:51PM for an attempted burglary. A witness reported that while trying to close a rear door, they found it to be damaged. An investigation found that the door was tampered with and pry marks were located, but it did not appear that entry was made. The investigation is ongoing.
    • On July 20 at 11:39AM, an officer stopped a pedestrian for violating pedestrian laws. The individual gave officers a false name to avoid being arrested on an active National Crime Information Center warrant. However, once their identity was learned, they were arrested for hindering and for the active warrant and was transferred to the Burlington County Jail. During a search at the Jail, 28 Xanax pills were located "secreted in a private area of their person," according to the MLPD. The suspect was also charged with controlled dangerous substance offenses.
    • Mount Laurel officers responded to the 500 block of Norwood Road on July 22 at 7:12AM for a report of a stolen motor vehicle. The victim reported that the car was stolen sometime overnight, and that it was left unsecured with the keys inside. The investigation is ongoing.
    • Officers responded to the 500 block of Cambridge Drive on July 22 at 12:05PM for a report of a theft from a motor vehicle, in which the victim reported that an unknown suspect entered their unlocked car sometime that day and stole about $7.00 in change and a wallet. The investigation is ongoing.
    • On July 23 at 7:26AM, officers responded to Nottingham Way for a report of a stolen motor vehicle, in which the victim reported that their unlocked car was stolen from their driveway sometime between 8PM on July 22 and 7:26AM on July 23. Using the On-Star feature, the car was located in Burlington City and was recovered by local police. The victim reported that their garage door opener, wallet with credit cards and IDs, a Yeti cooler and sunglasses were stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
    • On July 23 at 7:54AM, officers responded to Nottingham Way for an attempted vehicle burglary report in which a victim saw two suspects trying to gain entry into the vehicle at 1:27AM on their Ring camera. Entry was not made and nothing was stolen, and the investigation is ongoing. Mount Laurel officers responded to Nottingham Way the same morning at 8:29AM for a stolen motor vehicle in which the victim reported that their Jeep Cherokee was stolen from their driveway. The investigation is ongoing.
