Bedell throws book at Nicholas County, West Virginia, man over Harrison crime
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — A 26-year-old Summersville man was sentenced to five years in prison Wednesday for soliciting a minor via computer. Harrison Circuit Judge Thomas A. Bedell’s sentence was the maximum under the law for the crime against Cody Matthew Wyant.

WESTOVER, W.Va. — A Fayetteville woman is facing charges after police allege she rolled her car on I-79 with child in tt while intoxicated. Westover police said Vickie Gay, 52, flipped the vehicle its side on I-79 at the Westover exit and flipped on its side. Gay and the juvenile were briefly trapped inside.

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Today we’re seeing some fog for our mountain valleys. Any fog should mix out by mid-morning in preparation for a sunny and hot day. Highs today top out in the mid 80s with relatively low humidity values. That should help keep our feels like temperatures “relatively low”, although it is going to be a hot day for Appalachia regardless.
Westminster resident and Oakmont alum sets new course record at Oak Hill Country Club
She’s only 20 years old, but Mackenzie Whitney has already made her mark as one of the all-time great golfers at Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg. Whitney, a Westminster resident and former Oakmont Regional student-athlete, became the youngest women’s club champion at Oak Hill when she was 16. The following year in 2021 when Oak Hill celebrated its 100th birthday, she was the first and is still the only golfer to card a hole-in-one on the par-4 ninth hole.

For the third year in a row, I am spending a week of late June/early July counseling at Camp Cowen’s “High School 1” week. This week’s account is from this location. It’s the fourth time in total I have written a column while at this location, and this year I decided to do this in the middle of a hot Wednesday afternoon while surrounded by the ambient noises of high school kids attempting to beat each other in four square and pickleball. The two-hour free-time block truly is a riveting time.
