Danny Jackson of Jackson’s Auto Mart has retired after years of serving the area with much appreciation.

Mount Olive Motor Company’s H.D. Grady has been handed the reins and now furthers the business with its new name. Owner H.D. Grady buys wholesale and retail and sells to public and dealerships.

“I started out on my own car lot when I got out of college,” said Grady. Grady grew up in Pink Hill and worked outside of Warsaw while eventually making his way to Mount Olive.

“Mr. Danny was always a big mentor to me, he was always so supportive, he sold me cars and helped me learn the car business.”

It segwayed into where he is today while valuing customer care. Jackson knew it was “all about the people.”

“I had a front seat for quite a while,” said Grady when it came to the mentorship that he received from Jackson.

Jackson originally started out in the car industry in 1976 with his brother and had been in the Mount Olive location since 2000, and retired last month.

“It was amazing to be around somebody that had that much knowledge about people and about car business.”

“You’re not just selling a car. You’re selling something that is going to be a part of their life,” said Grady.

Jackson is known for his incredible sense of humor and as a big fan of Carolina. In his free time, outside of work Jackson stays involved in church, fundraisers, and community activities. Jackson is a fan of baseball and Grady hopes that he can make time for games and fishing.

When it came to him learning from Jackson, Grady always felt a great connection to the business. He said he feels blessed to have such a wonderful staff.

“It was amazing to see how connected he was to this community and how much they loved and appreciated him — it was like family.”

“I hope to one day to be able to feel that same way.” In terms of feeling like family.

As far as the next chapter for Jackson, Grady wishes him the best during his retirement and feels gratitude for shaping him into the businessman that he is now.

“I’m proud to have been able to learn enough from him and be blessed enough to have the opportunity and to keep serving the same people he’s served.”
