Bloomfield Woman Admitted to Possessing Drugs During Vehicle Stop
A Bloomfield woman faces charges after admitting to possessing drugs during a traffic stop for a prior conviction. 20-year-old Shalayla Sickels was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance 3rd offense, failure to affix drug tax stamp – over seven grams, intent to deliver methamphetamine over five grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

During the evening hours of July 15, a well-organized and long-lived complex of thunderstorms rolled across Iowa, Illinois and parts of Indiana. Widespread damaging winds of 60 to locally 100 mph were observed within the line, especially from eastern Iowa, northern Illinois, and central Illinois. In addition, at least 27 occurred in the NWS Chicago County Warning Area.

According to the local news station in Des Moines, Iowa, CBS-affiliated KCCI, the woman, Denise Gannon, was driving with her husband on the highway, just north of Rippey, Iowa, in June 2024 when she noticed something in a ditch on the side of the road. “All this fluff was just fluffing around in the wind,” Gannon recalled.

Police arrest teen after Iowa mall shooting that left 2 people hurt
DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Investigators arrested a teenager in connection with a shooting at an Iowa mall that left the teen and another person wounded and sent people running for safety, police said Tuesday. Police arrested a 16-year-old on several weapons charges after learning he had been taken by a private car to a hospital after the shooting Monday afternoon inside NorthPark Mall in Davenport, a city of 100,000 people located along the Mississippi River. The teen and another person shot at each other inside the mall, Davenport Police said in a news release. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening. The shooting prompted shoppers and workers to seek shelter inside store dressing rooms and elsewhere while others ran out of the mall.
