Why Cincinnati's skies have been so smoky lately
You might have noticed a change in the air around sunrises and sunsets as of late. National Weather Service Meteorologist Ashley Novak says it's smoke from distant wildfires. “The highest concentration near this region is actually out in Iowa right now,” Novak says. “The source region for the smoke is coming from the northwest United States and western Canada.”

A recent crash in Ottawa that involved an antique Jeep turned out to be fatal. The Ottawa Police Department on Tuesday sent out an updated accident report mentioning that 64-year-old Ronald Winnicki of Ottawa passed away from his injuries. His obituary states that he was pronounced dead July 1st at OSF in Peoria.
Probable cause found for two to be tried for fatal shooting
A Knox County judge says there’s probable cause for two people to be tried in connection with a fatal shooting a month and a half ago. Knox County Court records indicate Judge Chad Long ruled Monday that probable cause exists to try Chase Houlden, Jr, and Gabriel Moore, both 19, on counts including First-Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery.

Washington teenager Avery Grazier was identified as the person killed in a single-car accident on Springfield Road in East Peoria, the Tazewell County Coroner's Office announced. Grazier, 16, was the passenger in a pick-up truck involved in a single-vehicle crash and was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:20 a.m. Monday. DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - A 16-year-old Rock Island boy is facing charges in connection with a shooting at NorthPark Mall Monday afternoon. The boy has been charged as an adult with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony punishable by 10 years in prison, and possession of a firearm by a felon, a Class D felony punishable by five years in prison, according to online court records.
