State Route 7 in Jefferson Co. closed due to rockfall
State Route 7 at Mingo Junction in Jefferson County has been closed in both directions due to "a significant rockfall." According to a press release from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), this location is the site of an ongoing rockfall remediation project in this area. ODOT says that blasting is utilized weekly for the purposes of excavation, but say that today's blasting caused "more material to fall than anticipated," resulting in significant rockfall onto both lanes of State Route 7.
