MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – A plan to replace the floating day dock on Shem Creek has been delayed until after the Labor Day holiday.

Construction was expected to begin in mid-July and last for roughly 10 weeks; however, the town said in an update Monday that work would not begin until later in the summer.

The public day dock is located near the Shem Creek Boardwalk just down from popular restaurants on the waterway.

Town leaders said the work included replacing the floating dock and other repairs due to its age.

Construction on the nearby Shrimp Docks and Processing Facility began in June and will continue on schedule.
