CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston County has announced temporary lane closures on Dingle Road and US 17 in Mount Pleasant starting Monday.

Charleston officials say the SC-41 Interim Improvements Project will cast nighttime lane closures between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. from July 8 through July 11.

The temporary lane closures will facilitate the widening of Dingle Rd at the US 17 intersection to provide a new dedicated left turn lane and a combination right and thru lane.

Officials say flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic, and traffic control signs and message boards will be in place to alert drivers.

“The SC-41 Interim Improvements Project, now in its first phase, is designed to improve safety and increase efficiency throughout the SC-41 corridor,” said Charleston County officials. “It includes improvements to the SC-41/US 17/Dingle Road intersection, as well as the SC-41/Joe Rouse Road intersection.”

Officials ask drivers to use caution while in the area.
