This weekend, head to the Mount Pleasant Civic Center for fun and a good cause. The 11th Annual Ovarian Cancer Awareness Benefit will be going on, full of family activities and tasty home cooked food.

Co-organizer for the benefit, Donna Norman explained to the Tribune, “My daughter is the one who started this 11 years ago. Both her grandmothers passed away from ovarian cancer. My mama, Ina, was real strong. She fought. She just lived her life and was a god-fearing woman. She was just an angel here on earth.” The benefit will have a spaghetti dinner for $10, all you can eat. Norman said she and her daughter cook all of it themselves, but also have heaps of other people who help with the food and put the benefit together.

There will also be bingo for $25 until all the prizes are gone, as well as a raffle ticket drawing for $5 or 5 raffle tickets for $20. There will also be an auction where you could grab a MK purse, Kendra Scott earrings, a Dell laptop, Granite Stone cookware, a mini chainsaw, 2 trailer tires, a 100 piece tool set, and a $100 gift card.

The auction will be hosted by Tim Thompson and the raffle drawings will be done by Titus County Judge Kent Cooper.

“We’re just gonna have a good time,” Norman said. “We just want everybody to come out and have fun with us, and it’s all for a wonderful cause.”

The benefit is happening on Saturday, September 14th, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Civic Center in Mount pleasant.

The event is in memory of Marie Norman, Wanda Milner, Ina Williams, Shirley Holt, and Jason Milner.

All proceeds will go to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
