The Goin’ Gold Band and Colorguard, Tiger Dolls, Cheerleaders, and Tiger football celebrated National Assisted Living Week with their across-the-street neighbors at Mt. Pleasant Assisted Living on Monday, September 9-Thursday, September 12. The Goin’ Gold Band and Colorguard performed songs outside for the residents, the Tiger Dolls did mini parades through the hallways and danced outside in the parking lot, the cheerleaders performed the MPHS fight song and did cheers and chants in the halls for the residents and brought them t-shirts and water bottles, and the Tiger football Captains visited with the residents, even discussing football with several.
Established by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) in 1995, National Assisted Living Week provides a unique opportunity for residents, their loved ones, staff, volunteers, and the surrounding communities to recognize the role of assisted living in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities. The annual observance encourages assisted living communities around the country to offer a variety of events and activities to celebrate the individuals they serve, as well as to help educate members of the public about this distinctive aspect of long-term care.
