“I started working in restaurants for many years. I served people, waited tables, studied all kinds of food. I’m just a people person and I love serving them,” Jeed said.

It was finally in 2011 that Jeed’s dream came true and she opened the doors of Thai Lanna. By walking through the doors, every customer is able to have a taste of Thailand’s renown prasat architecture with ornate decorations and pictures of towering spires. The dining area is filled with nature, tranquility, and best of all– delicious smells.

From red curry to Thai pepper steak, Jeed serves it all. From the moment the kitchen opens, the cooks are busy chopping onions and cooking batches of rice. The tom yum soup is simmering, bell peppers and mushrooms tossing in a wok, succulent meats sizzling.

Jeed emphasized how important it is to serve the freshest ingredients and keep her customers not only happy, but healthy too, “You’re gonna see a lot of fresh food here. The meat, the chicken, seafood, fresh veggies– we don’t use anything frozen. We cut everything with our own hands, marinate everything ourselves. We want you to eat healthy and take care of yourself, that’s how we cook for you.”

Though Thai food is famous for the spicy, fragrant curries, if you don’t have much tolerance for spicy food, there’s still plenty on the menu that won’t light your mouth on fire. A few popular non-spicy dishes are pad thai, cashew nut chicken, and Thai fried rice.

“My favorite is always green curry. I love the spicy,” Jeed said with a laugh.

There’s also sweet treats like the mango sticky rice and the Thai milk tea can be as addicting as a classic southern sweet tea. No matter the flavor, Thai Lanna will have something to tickle your taste buds.

Thai Lanna Restaurant is open every day of the week. Monday to Saturday, they’re open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Sundays, their hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thai Lanna is located at 208 Lakewood Drive in Mount Pleasant and they do dine-in and takeout.

You’ll always be welcome in Thai Lanna or as one would say in Thailand…
