Gonzalez soars as top 2A high jumper

Alexis Gonzalez, a standout student athlete at Harts Bluff High School, has enjoyed a stellar track and field season this year competing in the high jump.

Her jump of 5’2” in the regional meet secured her second place and a spot at the 2024 UIL State Meet in Austin last week.

That appearance made her the first track and field athlete from HBHS to ever compete at that level. Oh, and she is just a sophomore.

Not content to just partic- ipate, Gonzalez must have felt good about the Austin air inside Mike Meyers Stadium as she pulled off a leap of 5’6” in the event to claim the 2A state championship making her family, teammates, coaches, school and community proud. Her accomplishment also made more history for herself and for HBHS athletics.

“It was an incredible feeling to witness Alexis soar to victory in the 2A high jump. Seeing her hard work, dedication, and talent culminate in such a remarkable achievement fills me with immense pride. She truly deserves every bit of recognition for her outstanding performance,” said coach Bradley Lambeth.
