A special meeting has been scheduled for Monday, May 13, for the Mount Pleasant City Council, where the city election will be canvassed and the three newly-elected city council members, Kelly Redfearn, Jonathan Hageman and Carl Hinton will be sworn into office.

The fourth agenda item states: “Discussion and action on the City Manager’s resignation, accepting his resignation effective immediately, authorizing the severance allowed under his employment agreement and approving the mutual release.”

The full agenda for the meeting can be found at https://mpcity.net/agendas-minutes .

On Tuesday, residents of Mt. Pleasant headed home after Mayor Tracy Craig announced that the council could not hold a quorum.

Three council members were absent from the May 7 scheduled meeting. By law, the council could not move forward with the meeting. The reasons for the absences have not been made clear.

The council members present were the Mayor, city manager Ed Thatcher, councilman Jerry Walker, and councilman Galen Adams.
