Ryan Reynolds and his mom join Parkinson's education campaign
SALT LAKE CITY — About the time that actor Ryan Reynolds began working on the original "Deadpool" movie, his father James Reynolds died of Parkinson's disease. The elder Reynolds was 74 and had lived with the disease since his diagnosis at age 57 in 1998. In interviews, Reynolds has noted that his dad didn't really talk about the disease — and they certainly didn't talk about two of the lesser-known complications of the disease: delusions and hallucinations, which for James Reynolds started about halfway through the course of his Parkinson's.
Sugar House neighbor sentenced to prison for multiple civil stalking violations
SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Salt Lake City resident Maurice Raffoul was sentenced to prison on Monday following multiple 2News Investigations that spanned more than a year now. When revoking his probation, Third District Court Judge William Kendall called Raffoul, "essentially a one-person crime spree and disruptor of neighborhood harmony for a very long time."
Midvale man charged with stabbing, trying to kill Duchesne County man
MYTON, Duchesne County — A Midvale man was charged Monday with stabbing another man in Duchesne County multiple times. Casey Lynn Malin, 34, is charged in 8th District Court with attempted murder, a first-degree felony; two counts of theft of a vehicle or gun and burglary, second-degree felonies; and possession of a gun by a restricted person, a third-degree felony.

Crews keep deck fire from spreading to interior of south Bountiful home

Utah Eliminates California From Playoff Contention
Eduardo Curros – Field Correspondent, All Lacrosse All The Time. The Utah Archers played the first of two games this weekend Friday night at Zions Bank Stadium against the California Redwoods. Utah came into their Homecoming weekend having lost their last two games, as well as the West Conference lead to the Denver Outlaws. Meanwhile, California was in need of a big game and significant help if they were going to make the playoffs. The Redwoods rallied from fourth quarter deficits of 10-7 and 12-8 to force overtime. However, Utah would prevail 13-12 in overtime to drop the Redwoods to 3-7, eliminating them from playoff contention.

The Revival of the U’s Middle East Center

The center has faced several challenges in the past decade, including faculty retirements and a reduction in funding. But now, under the directorship of Chris Low, the center has added several new hires and expanded their programming. They intend to restore the center to national prominence by 2030, Low told The Daily Utah Chronicle.
