The Washington Nationals took the lead yesterday and went wire-to-wire with a 14-6 final score. James Wood hit his first home run, his first double, and his first crooked number RBI count (5) in a game. With the addition of Trey Lipscomb back to the roster, the Nats starting lineup plus their young pitcher, MacKenzie Gore, are part of this youth movement. The only players in the lineup aged over 26 were Lane Thomas and Jesse Winker. The average age to start the game yesterday was exactly 25.62 years of age.

Tina Martin, right in photo, co-founder of Martin-Schaffer Advertising, has died. Her death, at 77, resulted from the side effects of treatments for metastatic breast cancer. Her obit states that she was born in Lancaster, PA,but left for Washington, D.C., in the late 1960s and found work writing radio commercials at the city’s largest agency. Her talent shone, and she received multiple awards for her writing and her uniquely memorable ad campaigns.

The Washington Mystics lost to the Minnesota Lynx, 74-67 on Saturday night. The Mystics got off to a slow start in this one, thanks to some sloppy play. ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is again offering an online process for Maryland hunters to apply for a 2024-2025 waterfowl blind site license. From July 15 through July 29 at 11:59 p.m., hunters and riparian landowners may enter the annual lottery for the opening days of blind site licensing.
Stream project in Annandale nears completion
The project to restore the Coons Branch stream in Annandale Community Park is ahead of schedule. Workers have completed stabilizing the stream banks, says project manager Jasdeep Saini, of the Fairfax County Department of Stormwater Planning Division.
