WAYNESBORO, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A shooting this morning in Waynesboro left one man dead and another man in custody. Waynesboro Police Captain Jaime Dunn said officers were dispatched shortly after 9 a.m. to the 400 block of James Avenue for a report of a discharge of a weapon.
Update: Police arrest 23-year-old man accused of shooting someone to death
Waynesboro police have charged a 23-year-old man in the Tuesday morning shooting death of another man in the 400 block of James Avenue. Arrested and charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony was Jason Patrick Sipe, 23, of Waynesboro. Sipe was injured and treated at Augusta Health in Fishersville. He was then charged and held without bond Tuesday night at Middle River Regional Jail.

Annual Harrisonburg Citizen Academy now accepting applications
HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - The annual Harrisonburg Citizen Academy is now accepting applications from Harrisonburg and Rockingham County residents. The academy will be held one night each week from Aug. 22 to mid-November. The 13-week course allows participants to visit City of Harrisonburg departments and some partner organizations to learn about the services, programs, and events available to community members.
