2 injured in downtown Columbus shooting; witness recalls what she saw
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two people were injured in a shooting in downtown Columbus on the night of the Fourth of July. The Columbus Division of Police said officers found two victims, one juvenile and an adult, with gunshot wounds near East Bank Park. Both were described as being in stable condition.
Recruiting: Two Ohio State Defensive End Targets Commit To Alabama, LSU
After a streak of success in the recruiting cycle, Ohio State missed out on a couple of defensive line prospects in the 2025 class in the past few days. Cincinnati Winton Woods four-star defensive end Justin Hill (6-3, 220) committed to Alabama on July 3 and Indianapolis Warren Central four-star defensive end Damien Shanklin (6-4, 230) committed to LSU on July 5.
First Look: Caffé Pelino Fills Former Tasi Café Space
Husband and wife Vinny and Christina Pelino are back at it again in the restaurant business and are bringing their newest concept to the Short North. Caffé Pelino will open Saturday at 680 N. Pearl St., the former home of Tasi Café, which closed in August of 2023 after 17 years. The cafe will serve breakfast and brunch items such as pastries and Italian-style coffee.
Hilltop property cleaned, trashed again; residents seek lasting solutions
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Hilltop residents called ABC 6 after a problem property that got cleaned up in May is back to being trashed again. According to 311 reports, the property located at 571 South Harris Avenue had been the destination for illegal drug use, squatting and theft. Reports also claimed the properties were overgrown and covered with trash.

Better Know a B1G: Ohio State’s Undeserved Championship
Sports hatred can arise from many different causes. Geographic or historical rivalries are probably the most common reason to start hating a team or a player. A specific game or event could have the same effect with lingering animosity. It could even be something about a team’s culture or traditions that just rubs you the wrong way. I can’t really put my finger on a single cause, but the 2002 Ohio State team is one of the college football teams I hated most in my life. Even now, it makes me viscerally angry to think about the bogus pass interference penalty that gave the Buckeyes the second chance they needed to beat Miami in the National Championship Game.
Ohio State baseball adds pitcher from transfer portal
The Ohio State baseball team has added a pitcher via the transfer portal this week. Spencer Hill announced his commitment to the Buckeyes via social media. Hill is a central Ohio native growing up in the northwest suburb of New Albany. A 2020 graduate, Hill spent a post-graduate season at Bridgeton Academy where he posted a 2-0 record with 13 strikeouts in a COVID-19-shortened season. From there Hill headed to Northern Illinois for a year before landing at UNC-Asheville.
Ohio State football trending for 2026 in-state athlete
During one of Ohio State football’s camp sessions this summer, an offer went out to 2026 in-state Avon athlete, jakob weatherspoon. The 5-foot, 11-inch, 172-pound prospect saw his recruiting take a major jump following the Buckeye offer. Penn State, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and others followed Ohio State’s, showing that it was deserved.
