Man That Fired Shots At Newton Officer Out Of Hospital And In Custody
NEWTON, N.C. – The man, who shot at Newton police earlier this month, is out of the hospital and in custody on eight felony charges, according to the police department. Keon Jemez Leach, 24, was released around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and was arrested. He has been charged with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and four counts of assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm.

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) - One person was arrested after allegedly running from a fatal crash in Huntersville Tuesday night. Huntersville police said they responded around 8 p.m. to a three-car crash on Statesville Road near Mount Holly-Huntersville Road. Greenway tunnel creates pathway under I-77 for walkers, bikers
HUNTERSVILLE– A long-awaited piece of greenway is finally open, creating a walkable connection between the east and west sides of Huntersville under Interstate 77. The tunnel is part of Mecklenburg County’s Torrence Creek Greenway/Tributary 2, also known as Torrence Trib. II, which is an east-west connection in The Vine, Huntersville’s greenway system. Work on the greenway section broke ground in the spring of 2023, and the subterranean passage beneath the interstate became walkable last month. The town held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the connector on Monday, July 15.
