Mooresville man charged with statutory rape; Mooresville police say victim was 13-year-old
A Mooresville man is charged with statutory rape after admitting to having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old, the Mooresville Police Department said. Erick Mauricio Guevara, 27, of Mooresville, is charged with felony statutory rape of a child under 15 years of age and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Mooresville police said in a news release.

Alta Warehousng & Logistics set to begin operations in Kannapolis soon
KANNAPOLIS - In a social media post, the City of Kannapolis welcomed Alta Warehousing & Logistics. The family-owned and operated business will move into the newly constructed Davidson 85 facility, located at 5418 Davidson Highway. Construction of Davidson 85 was just completed by the McCraney Property Company, and it includes 146,628 square feet near I-85 and Kannapolis Parkway. Alta expects to begin operations in September.

Alexander County Woman Arrested
Amber Dawn Shook, age 30 of Hiddenite, was taken into custody on Wednesday by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office . She was served with failure to appear warrants for possession of schedule II controlled substance, shoplifting-concealment of goods and second-degree trespass. Shook was arrested on those charges in May by Taylorsville Police. Pending charges of probation violation and school attendance violation are also awaiting trial. July 29th and September 9th are listed as court appearances.
