CZR vs. Johnston City Week 1 matchup moved from Christopher to Johnston City
Friday morning, Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton announced their Week 1 home opener against Johnston City has been moved. The Week 1 matchup on August 30 was originally set to take place at Christopher High School but due to unforeseen delays on Christopher’s new track around the football field the game is being moved to Johnston City.
Central City man escapes injury when wheelchair catches fire
A Central City man escaped injury when a bag he had attached to his wheel chair caught fire. Central City Police say they were unclear where Craig Heitkamp of Marvin Street was located, but later found him when spotting what turned out to be a rubbish fire near the Green Street Road and Brick Hill Road intersection.
Raising Cane's to open new restaurant in Marion, Ill.
MARION, Ill. — Restaurant chain Raising Cane's, popular for its chicken fingers, will open a new location Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 2806 Joseph Cannon Way in Marion. In celebration, the restaurant will hold several giveaways for customers on opening day. Doors will open at approximately 10 a.m. on opening day.
Hospital recognized with Bright Spot Award
The campus of Memorial Hospital in Carbondale has been recognized with a Bright Spot Award from Keep Carbondale Beautiful, a local affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. The hospital campus is beautifully landscaped, notably at the corner of North University Avenue and West Main Street. Additionally, the terraced flower beds at the main entrance of the hospital are striking this time of year and no doubt brighten the moods of staff, visitors and patients. Illinois home sales, inventory and median prices all increased in July
Home sales, available homes and median home prices all rose across the state in July, according to new data from Illinois REALTORS®. Last month, Illinois home sales rose 6.2% year over year with 13,114 homes sold. Inventory rose similarly, by 6.3%, with 19,494 homes on the market. At the same time, the median sales price hit $308,000: an 8.1% bump.
