Loren was born on August 9, 1932, the son of Juel and Eva (Wilson) Barker. He married Janet J. (Boger) Barker on November 9, 1957, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and she preceded him in death on December 10, 2018, after spending 60 years united in marriage.
