Yet another suspect on Whidbey Island is facing charges for leading police on a potentially dangerous pursuit this year, according to court documents. Ronald B. Millado, a 45-year-old Oak Harbor resident, escaped following a high-speed chase through the city on May 11 during which he extended his arm out the window and wagged his index finger at police, according to a report by a deputy with the Island County Sheriff’s Office.
Langley limits short-term rentals
In response to the growing housing crisis on South Whidbey, the Langley City Council has decided to limit the number of a certain type of short-term rental unit. The council unanimously agreed to reduce the capacity of type IV short term rental permits from 30 to 15, which was suggested by Councilmember Craig Cyr.

Welfare check on an unresponsive man ends in arrest
BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A welfare check on an unresponsive man near the Guide Meridian ended in an arrest. Bellingham Police spokesperson Megan Peters says that fire crews were called after the man was found lying in the bushes near Best Buy on Saturday, the evening of July 13. The man woke up and immediately began acting aggressively towards the crewmembers. He pulled a glass bottle out of his pants and threw it at his feet before threatening to pull out a gun.
