Welfare check on an unresponsive man ends in arrest
BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A welfare check on an unresponsive man near the Guide Meridian ended in an arrest. Bellingham Police spokesperson Megan Peters says that fire crews were called after the man was found lying in the bushes near Best Buy on Saturday, the evening of July 13. The man woke up and immediately began acting aggressively towards the crewmembers. He pulled a glass bottle out of his pants and threw it at his feet before threatening to pull out a gun.

La Conner School Board approves contract for Cram as interim superintendent
Last week, the La Conner School Board approved a supplemental contract for interim Superintendent Dave Cram for the 2024-2025 school year. Cram works as the La Conner School District’s director of finance and operations, human resources and risk management; director of operations and planning; and transportation supervisor. The School Board appointed Cram the district’s interim superintendent after Superintendent Will Nelson departed for a position teaching education leadership at Western Washington University’s Woodring College of Education in July. The approval of the supplemental contract means that Cram will be paid an additional $12,000 in total for his superintendent duties. The Board intends to hire a permanent superintendent by June 2025. Cram will help facilitate the process.
