More and more Hispanic people are taking advantage of California’s medical aid-in-dying law, according to a new report from the California Department of Health. In 2023, 43 terminally ill Hispanic patients used the End-of-Life Option Act to get a prescription to end their suffering and die peacefully. That’s compared to 24 patients the year before.

Cathedral City Fire Chief Under Investigation for Hostile Work Environment
Cathedral City Fire Chief Michael Contreras is under investigation following 14 complaints alleging a hostile work environment. A third-party investigator has been appointed to examine the claims. Palm Springs Man Sentenced for Beating German Shepherd to Death
A man in Palm Springs has been sentenced to 120 days in custody and two years of probation for brutally beating a German Shepherd to death. The incident occurred on Monday near the intersection of East Barristo Road and South Sunrise Way. Witnesses reported seeing the man, identified as Hare Streep, dragging and kicking the dog, which later died en route to the animal hospital. As part of his probation, Streep is prohibited from owning any animals or pets for the next two years.
Palm Springs International Airport Launches Nonstop Toronto Service
PALM SPRINGS (CNS) – Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) announced last Thursday that it will provide nonstop service to Toronto beginning in December. The seasonal routes will occur three times a week to and from Toronto- Pearson International Airport (YYZ) starting Dec. 12, offered through Canadian provider Porter Airlines, according to PSP public information officer Jake Ingrassia. The flights mark Porter’s first service through PSP.
